Born in Sanford, Florida, Bert Whigham has been working with Coach Shaw's program for the last five years. Bert played only his senior year of high school football at Seminole High in Sanford Florida. He continued his career at Illinois State University. His freshman year of college Bert played tight end, but ended up switching positions twice, first to fullback and lastly to defensive end.
After college, Bert trained for his Pro Day and professional career with Coach Tom Shaw. Weighing 248 pounds, Bert ran a 4.58 forty, 4.20 five-ten-five, and 7.04 L drill, while benching 225 pounds for 31 reps. Witnessing first hand the benefit and importance of staying in shape year round, Bert trained and worked with Coach Shaw for the last five years, when not in his own profesional season. Bert's professional career started with his hometown Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League, where he played two seasons. He also played three seasons in the European Football League, two years for the Badalona Dracs (Barcelona Spain) and one season with the Calanda Broncos (Chur Switzerland). While working at Tom Shaw Performance, Bert has had the privilege of working with some of the NFL's best young linebackers and defensive lineman. Notable players include Khalil Mack (Raiders), Bruce Irvin (Raiders), Tim Jernigan (Ravens), Justin Houston (Chiefs), Jordan Phillips (Dolphins), Jarvis Jones (Steelers), and Eli Harold (49'ers).
